Individual Efforts

The following changes are relatively easy, won’t require a sacrifice on lifestyle and can make a big difference.

  • Make your daily driver an electric vehicle or at least a more efficient one.
  • Upgrade to a more efficient heat pump (or switch to electric heat)
  • Upgrade to a more efficient water heater
  • House Insulation – check the attic, feel your exterior walls (from inside) and compare with other houses.  Cold to the touch means poor insulation.
  • Energy Star appliances – Refrigerator, washing machines, dishwasher, TV
  • Smart Outlets, Smart Thermostat
  • Go Solar and/or Geothermal
  • Vacation Mode for space and water heating – When leaving the house
  • Try to influence your company or any other organization you are involved with to be environmentally conscious.
  • Donate Money or Time – One of the reasons human beings began to trade with one another is we don’t have the time or energy to learn everything.  Spending energy at your work and giving money to an entity that knows how to do renewable projects or conservation can be an efficient use of energy.
  • Participate in Politics – You can participate in grassroots activities, activism, go to war on social media, try to persuade people in your life, give money, or run for a position yourself, but most of all vote!
